Not a terrific common name, eh?
I have been seeing "six-spotted" TBs with 8 spots. I was pretty excited until I found out how common this is. They are highly variable. I've heard that 10 different subspecies have been proposed but they can't nail down consistent differences between populations so for now they are all "Six-spotted" regardless of # of spots. Maybe someday they'll get a new name.
