This animal was collected from a black spruce muskeg, brought into the lab, and offered vegetation from its natural habitat. Here it was photographed in the lab feeding on Rubus chamaemorus
, but in the field they seem to spend most of their time on Betula nana

Some time ago I had sent some these off to Dr. Richard Snider, who determined them to be Sminthurus
sp. A. I think this corresponds to Sminthurus
