The treehopper in West Haven -

Size: 4-5 mm
The individuals collected were all females laying their eggs on the host plant (Spiked thistle?). Could someone identify these ladies at species level?

I agree.
They feed on a variety of herbaceous plants, preferring Asteraceae.

Yes
I also suppose they could be Entylia carinata. But I cannot exclude other possible IDs such as Entylia concisa or E. bactriana.

All the same species.
Entylia bactriana
is synonymous with
E. carinata
and
E. concisa
is now a subspecies of
E. carinata
…
