Mydas Fly - Mydas clavatus

Mydas Fly - Mydas clavatus
Radford, Virginia, USA
June 22, 2012
Size: ~ 40 mm
Is this a fly? If so, what kind, please? If nor, what is it. It has a bit of orange around or above its back legs. The wings cover most of the orange when the critter rests. It has orange feet, also.

Moved from Mydas clavatus.

Moved from Mydas Flies.

Moved from ID Request.

Brad, I appreciate your getting my fly to genus Myads. I think that it is probably Myads clavata. The orange was not on the leg after all.
