Sepsisoma? - Odontomera ferruginea - female

Sepsisoma? - Odontomera ferruginea - Female
Madisonville, Hopkins County, Kentucky, USA
July 23, 2006
Size: 9 mm
Is this a Richardiid fly of the genus Sepsisoma. If so, what in the world is it doing as far north as Kentucky? This is my second attempt at getting one of these IDed here on bugguide.net.

yes
I agree with Donald Chandler- this is a Richardiid. probably the same species as

Believe it or not
there are a lot of insect groups that are poorly known or lack specialists (the single Richardiid specialist died over 10 years ago), particularly specialists who are willing to provide identifications of online photos. I do not know this genus or the species, but Sepsisoma is found as far north as southern Ontario to New York. Based on the description of the group and genus in "Manual of Nearctic Diptera", the individual who provided this name is correct.
