Bombardier Beetle - Brachinus cyanochroaticus

Bombardier Beetle - Brachinus cyanochroaticus
Groton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
June 20, 2012
Size: 10mm

Moved
Moved from Bombardier Beetle.
Thanks Peter.

Brachinus cyanochroaticus
based on my microscopic examination of this specimen** which is now a photo-voucher in the P.W.Messer collection. Thanks Tom.

** I encountered difficulty in associating images to identified specimens of which 5 similar Brachinus were bunched in same collection container. The only Brachinus in the bunch this large (~ 11 mm not including abdomen) and with 3rd antennomere half pale (as in image) was B. cyanochroaticus.
