Synonyms and other taxonomic changes
There seems to be some confusion about whether Phanias concoloratus is a senior synonym of Phanias watonus or not. Unfortunately, the description for Phanias concoloratus is too vague to determine if it is the same species or not. This will likely remain unresolved until someone revises the genus and examines the type specimens. As of 2013, however, they are still "officially" separate species (no one has formally declared a synonymy).
From Wayne Maddison (pers. comm. - September 2013): "Concoloratus and watonus are the same. They haven't been formally synonymized yet... Best to go with watonus for now, perhaps, though the name will be concoloratus".
