found on a Velvet Mesquite flower (Prosopsis velutina), also found another that looks identical to me at night on a Creosote flower (Larrea tridentata); Sonoran desert scrub, elev 2600 feet.

Apioninae of sorts
there are a lot of them associated with legumes in Arizona. Some produce galls on the seed pods!

The name is very fitting. They seem to fit the best with other photos of Tribe Oxystomatini, but many look very similar. I will move it to the Subfamily page. (I never know if I should move the photos or wait for one of the moderators to do that - I hope I'm not causing problems.)
