Abachrysa eureka

Abachrysa eureka
Ocean Springs, Gulf Park Estates, Jackson County, Mississippi, USA
July 24, 2006
Size: ~20 mm
This lacewing (I think it's a lacewing) came to a black light. The body has a bluish tinge you can't see very well in the photograph. It's about one and a half times as large as a green lacewing. Can anyone help with the identification?

Abachrysa eureka Unidentified Lacewing - Abachrysa eureka

#66422 Identification – Abachrysa eureka
Identification confirmed.

A lucky hit on this one!
Very, very cool--looks like a lacewing from the Mexican Day of the Dead festival, almost skeletal. I took a look at Neuroptera of Florida, figuring that this must be a member of the Chrysopidae, but not genus Chrysoperla, the rather ordinary-looking green lacewings. My first Google image search for the first genus listed on Neuroptera of Florida (Abachrysa) got a match from Gallery of Florida Insects--Abachrysa eureka, and Nearctica.com says it is a monotypic genus, with that one species, Abachrysa eureka Banks 1931.

Thanks!
Thanks very much for identificaniton! I checked out the Gallery of Florida Insects and I agree with you.
