Ground beetle - Myas coracinus

Ground beetle - Myas coracinus
Oak Ridge, Guilford County, North Carolina, USA
June 27, 2012
Size: ~ 17mm
I tried to match this with the ground beetles on BG, but my head started spinning.
One clue is that this bug emitted a very foul smell when I picked it up.
Sluggish maybe because of mite infestation.
Came to porch light.

Moved from ID Request. Either Myas coracinus or M. cyanescens, I don't know which. Size listed, if accurate, would make me lean towards M. coracinus.

Hello, Brad.
Looks like we collided on BG.
The size is accurate.
You want me to put it back in Myas?

probably safe to leave here
I was looking at the second image blown up and the elytral striae appear to be punctate, which would also indicate coracinus.

Best guess in indeecd "Myas coracinus"
as the lateral pronotal bead becomes very thickened toward the base which delimits a flat area medially that appears to be wider than that of M. cyanescens.

looks like Myas sp.
based on the dilated apical palpomeres.
