Swamp Milkweed Leaf Beetle Larva - Labidomera clivicollis

Swamp Milkweed Leaf Beetle Larva - Labidomera clivicollis
Lake Farm County Park, near Madison, Dane County, Wisconsin, USA
July 22, 2006
I'm sorry, but I have no clue where to start with this one. Can anyone help?

With that single row of black spots,
this remonds me of a False Potato Beetle larva. See guide page. The color appears to be variable. If not that exact species, something closely related, perhaps. What plant did you find it on?

Leaf beetle larva
Thanks for the hint. I'm not sure what the plant was. I didn't think to note it because another insect distracted me right after getting this photo. After your hint and looking at the guide I did some further searching on leaf beetle larvae and came up with what looks like even a closer match with a Milkweed leaf beetle larva, but I'm still hoping for someone with more expertise than me to help verify what I have. It could have been a milkweed plant, as there are many in the area I was in at the time.

I think you're onto something, there
