Darkling would be my first thought. Did you find it under bark or under leaf litter or some other prime darkling habitat?

It came to a blacklight I had set up next to my back door, so it was on the wall of my house.

Obviously, it has more discerning, upscale taste than the average beetle:-) This is indeed some kind of darkling beetle.
