Black Witch Moth - BWM - Ascalapha odorata - female

Black Witch Moth - BWM - Ascalapha odorata - Female
Altamont, Manitoba, Canada
June 28, 2012
Greetings! This morning, I found a black witch moth under the eaves at the front of our house (about 13 feet up) which faces west.
I am in the tiny town (pop 52) of Altamont, Manitoba, Canada.
The moth has been here all day today (June 28, 2012) and I will check on it periodically. It's a female (wing bands) and about 6.5-7 inches span....(too high up to measure).

We are having warm temps and winds from different directions, there has been alot of rain in the weeks before this, including thunder storms. Also, for interest sake, Altamont likes to consider itself a "Bat Capital" with a high population of bats and we also have a large windfarm about a mile+ from here.
