Sphingidae: Paonias excaecata - Paonias excaecata
Grand Forks, Grand Forks County, North Dakota, USA
July 2, 2012
Size: Length ~ 4.5-5 cm
This specimen may be an unusually marked Blinded Sphinx Moth (7824). Of interest to me is that this specimen was found in the city of Grand Forks, the first residential Paonias I've found (they are common 20 miles west of Grand Forks, at the Turtle River State Park), and it is the first 'July' BG record for North Dakota, I think.
