Bombardier Beetle - Brachinus fulminatus

Bombardier Beetle - Brachinus fulminatus
Groton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
July 2, 2012
Size: 8mm

Brachinus fulminatus Erwin --det. T.L. Erwin
Moved from Bombardier Beetle.

Discrepancy: Image is Brachinus but specimen received...
for this BugGuide number is typical "Lebia grandis". The latter species superficially appears like a "Brachinus" and so that could have been part of the mixup. Tom, tell me if perhaps around that time you submitted a "Lebia grandis" image with a different BugGuide number? Numbers might have gotten switched with "Brachinus".

There was a L. grandis a few days earlier
