Based on the shape of this beetle, It looks to appear this eucnemid may be Dirrhagofarsus lewisi (Fleutiaux). It is one of two species found in the US.

Underside
The underside wouldn't help much. Usually a side profile and perhaps the frontal view of the head would work. Did you post this picture on another website? I thought I saw a similar photograph on a different site. The whole shape, coloration was pretty diagnostic for me, since I have seen quite a few of these beetles in the last few years now.
