wide-headed, white-spotted, blackish brachypterous Planthopper with striped eyes and partly orange-brown tibiae - Lystridea
Laguna Mountains, San Diego County, California, USA
June 8, 2012
Size: ~~ 4 mm (rough estimate)
Is this an immature Fulgorid Planthopper ?
I couldn't find any close matches.
Might it belong near (or in) genus Alphina ?

Thanks for this holiday present, Andy !
Your expert help is very much appreciated !

I didn't suspect it to be a leafhopper.

I found out that three Lystridea species have been described, all with California records, but only one (L. nuda) recorded from San Diego County.
The pronotum length of this specimen exceeding its crown length by a bit, matches that of L. nuda. (I've added a dorsal view to show this.)
Its size also indicates L. nuda, which is smaller than L. uhleri, even though this specimen appears to be a late-instar immature.
