Crane Fly - Geina

Crane Fly - Geina
near Orillia, Simcoe, Ontario, Canada
July 2, 2012
Size: .60" across wings
in evening, was on my glass that had fresh orange and lime juice from my hands on the outside of the glass. Have never seen anything that flies, with wing tips that are fuzzy.

Robert,
Welcome to Bug Guide. I'm thinking Marcia is correct about this being a Himmelman's Plume Moth, but many Geina look alike to me. I'd rather a plume specialist make that call. I can see this isn't your first macro photo ... hope to see more excellent photos in the future.
Robert

Plume Moth
actually, it is a type of Plume Moth - Family Pterophoridae - compare with Himmelman's Plume Moth - Geina tenuidactyla - Hodges #6092

Looks a lot like the right thing.
Thanks
