Tipula furca - female

Tipula furca - Female
Newport near Banning Park, New Castle County, Delaware, USA
June 28, 2012
Thought it might be furca so I thought to try the key and see what happens.
http://iz.carnegiemnh.org/cranefly/idkeys.htm#11A
-was able to match anal veins and went to 5
-cheated and skipped 5A1 because my fly didn't look anything like that and was worn out from figuring out the anal veins anyway and wasn't going to touch ocelli
-used 5B1 based on anal vein length (as compared to 5A1) and suture to go to 6
-based on thinking it might be furca, cheated and used 6B5 (shorter antennae even though I couldn't count the segments in my pic)
Was able to work my way through the key to a predetermined conclusion :o)
