We're thinking this might be Sheridan's Hairstreak. These were at the top of the ridge on a rocky east-facing slope, filled with glacier lilies and yellow fritillary lilies.

I suppose the subspecies there is "newcomeri"
but I'm not certain

Moved from Butterflies (excluding skippers).
