Beetle - Omorgus suberosus

Beetle - Omorgus suberosus
Lady Lake, Lake County, Florida, USA
July 20, 2006
Size: 14mm
Omorgus? This is one of the living ones.

Maybe not O. suberosus
The front edge of the pronotum has a long straight section and is *much* wider than long, placing this beetle in a group with "monachus and others" according to Vaurie (diagram and comments on p. 14).

Omorgus suberosus (probably)
I'm a little gun shy about IDing these from photos, but looks like suberosus.

Thank you.
Is there anything you could see from an image that would help with the ID? I have been collecting the dead ones in a cup, so I can try to get better images of points of interest if needed.

Not really
Your shots are very good - just uncomfortable trying to nail these down from photos. I still haven't got up the nerve to move some of the Serica to sp. pages even though several seem pretty obvious.
