Size: ~5mm
Rather small beetle was hard to photograph, and unfortunately this was the best I could do. The red thorax has two black spots.

I would go with...
...Two-spotted Melyrid (
Collops bipunctatus
) but please wait for an expert. The thumbnail below is a male. I can't be sure but I think yours is female but the antennae are a bit blurred.

I think you're right. Unfortunately I couldn't get any pictures with the antennae in focus--it was moving very fast (and in a rather odd habitat for a melyrid), and I was lucky to get this one.

I agree with Ron M...the enlarged 3rd antennal segment would be visible here if it were a male.
