Cicadellid ID Request - Scaphytopius nr-elegans

Cicadellid ID Request - Scaphytopius nr-elegans
Mission Canyon, Santa Barbara County, California, USA
July 5, 2012
Size: 4.5 mm
Right lateral view. Found on Coast Live Oak (Quercus agrifolia). Does not compare well with any images I have seen on BugGuide. Any help?

Since the nymph and adult
Since the nymph and adult here are different individuals, they should be unlinked. This would be the case even if we were completely sure that the nymph was the same species as the adult.

Moved from ID Request.

Very cool hopper. I'm not seeing anything like it either. I'll be interested in seeing what Dr. Hamilton has to say.

Scaphytopius
Obviously related to S. elegans, but there is nothing like this in the literature. The chances are good that it is undescribed.
