Big black wasp - Chlorion aerarium

Big black wasp - Chlorion aerarium
Espanola, Rio Arriba County, New Mexico, USA
July 3, 2012
Size: ~32 mm
It hung around this windowsill in my kitchen, venturing out under the closed shade and then going back, or buzzing between the shade and the window. Usually it didn't like being photographed.

Chlorion aerarium? If so, I wish it had gotten the male cricket under the washing machine.

Thanks.
I had my suspicions, but it's interesting to know.

Yes.
Well, it is certainly a species of Chlorion, and C. aerarium is the most common of the two.
