Carabid - Clivina acuducta

Carabid - Clivina acuducta
Groton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
June 20, 2012
Size: 5.5mm

Clivina acuducta Haldeman
based on recent information that Clivina acuducta is now considered a valid species and taken out of synonymy with C. americana by Bousquet (2012), by the 1988 Ph.D. thesis of SW Nichols, and by the unpublished opinion of Robert Davidson. Davidson (pers. comm.) states C. acuducta differs from C. americana by larger size (≥ 6 mm), longer antenna segments (not squarish), pronotal sides more rounded, and elytral striae more effaced toward apices. I measured ABL ~ 6 mm for this specimen.

"Clivina americana" replaced by C. acuducta on 6/26/2014
Thanks Tom.
