Wing venation isn't mistakable for Pepsis.

tarantula hawk wasp
May 2, 2014 This large wasp got a lot of attention at the splash pad yesterday. We live in Henderson, NV (near Las Vegas)where it was spotted flying through the crowd of people. It flew right down to the grass and began investigating. Most people gasped at the size of it, being at least an inch and a half in length... looking very fuzzy with big orange wings... no one had ever seen one before. Mostly scary when you don't know of a bug and/or it's intentions. I still don't know if they sting or bite, but I would have to assume so...Beautiful bug. I took a short video before it flew away.

The sting is supposed to be quite painful.
However, I've been around a lot of these wasps, even knocking about a half dozen off a branch when my hat bumped it. No problems, ever.
