Size: 3/4 inch

Hi I am writing a blog
about AZ spring blister beetles. would you allow me to use this photo? It's the only sp I couldn't find - I even drove to the white tanks last weekend
If you permit it, what copyright name should I use?

Cheers

This photo was taken in April or May, 2005. At the base of the White Tank Mtns. in non-developed wild desert, which is about 5-10 miles west of Phoenix Metro.

Meloidae
It is a blister beetle and a very pretty one, but I do not know the species...

Desert Spider Beetle
This is a Desert Spider Beetle genus Cysteodemus. There are two species I know of Cysteodemus armatus and the other is Cysteodemus wislizeni . It looks like Cysteodemus armatus except that species has the exact same pattern on the back in white not yellow. Maybe it is staining or variation I don't know. Hopefully someone else here can help me with that.

C. armatus, likely/date?
For what it's worth, this checklist of Arizona beetles lists only C. armatus. Other references I've seen say C. wislizeni is is generally all dark--see guide page for the genus. (But a couple of photos here identified as C. armatus are also all dark.)

Again, for what all that's worth.

Does the photographer have a date, even approximate, on this very good photo? (I'm envious--I've been to Phoenix several times recently and have not seen these.)

This link shows a lighter colored parts on top (white or yellow), that might be falling off or just changing color with age of the beetle.
