The phrase "complete post-vertical pollinose stripe" refers to the pale powder-like ("pollinose"), stripe that follows the lateral and upper hind-edges of the head (i.e. behind the vertex, or "post-vertical") in an uninterrupted ("complete") fashion.

The color of the pollinosity in this individual has a distinctly golden hue (on both the post-vertical stripe and the abdominal bands), but in many (most?) individuals it's closer to pale-gray or whitish.

The pollinosity is presumably a waxy exudate, and it's unclear whether (or to what degree) it might sometimes "wear off"... either in live individuals due to shedding or abrasion from their activities in the wild, or in specimens due to handling during collection.

The presence of a complete post-vertical stripe is a diagnostic character for P. excisus and P. townsendi. It's also sometimes present in P. bulbirostris, though it's usually interrupted in the area behind the vertex in that species.
