Tiny Cicada - Cicadettana

Tiny Cicada - Cicadettana
4 miles west of Adams, Gage County, Nebraska, USA
June 30, 2012
Size: 5/8 - 3/4 inch MOL
Found in the grass of a cow pasture.

Cicadetta
Another expert I consulted agreed that this one fits C. kansa better than Beameria venosa. Thanks!

Cicadetta
This pic is of a Cicadetta, but still looks more like a calliope given that it is not so bright lime green.

Cicadetta species in Florida have been mistaken for kansa based on color, but call and wing cell counts verify them as calliope or floridensis.

Also, many cicadas are prone to discoloration after death, therefore color for dead material is not always revealing.

genus Cicadetta - also tiny
I would guess probably C. kansa, but I'm not sure which species.

Moved from ID Request.

Tiny Cicada
I've discovered this is Beameria venosa
