Almost Spotless - Scolia dubia - female

Almost Spotless - Scolia dubia - Female
Desoto, Dallas County, Texas, USA
July 11, 2012
You can see just the faintest hint of a light spot on its abdomen--didn't know if it was Scolia dubia or the subspecies. It hunkered down in the mint while the sprinkler system ran.

Female
6 abdominal segments and short antennae = ♀

Moved
Moved from Scoliid Wasps.

Given George Waldren's comments (which I'd missed previously), I think you must be right.

Or maybe Triscolia?

Not an ID--just a possibility to consider while waiting for an expert opinion.

Triscolia
I looked at that, but both images under Scolia dubia haematodes are from Texas (Austin and Ft. Worth) with the note that the look-alike Triscolia does not occur this far east.
