Green lacewing egg - Chrysoperla plorabunda

Green lacewing egg - Chrysoperla plorabunda
100 Acre Wood, Winneshiek County, Iowa, USA
August 6, 2011
Size: 1 mm
The sliding glass door of the lab had all sorts of insects tracks on it and also 2 lacewing eggs. I tried to rear them, without success. This series are the 2 eggs and 2 larvae. One larva died 8-15-11 and the other one died during pupation.

As I fed the larva different aphids on different host plants, it got a lot more complicated (for me). Along with the aphids came 2 brown lacewing larvae and several syrphid fly larvae (perhaps 3 species) as well as the aphid wasps.
