Very strange. We could swear we just recently
had a good discussion on a similar moth with black wings and half black, half orange abdomen, and we thought we figured it out, but can't seem to find the moth or the discussion anyplace. Must be losing our minds! Maybe Maury will remember it.

I think that would be the family Erebidae
but there are some similar other ones. Day-active, yes.
