Tiger-oid beetle - Bembidion inaequale

Tiger-oid beetle - Bembidion inaequale
Chippewa River, Algoma District, Ontario, Canada
July 7, 2012
I was photographing several Bronzed Tiger Beetles (Cicindela repanda) and their larvae when I noticed a few of these beetles on the same stretch of sandy riverbank. They were very similar to the tigers in morphology and behavior as well as habitat, but much smaller and metallic. The closest match I've found in surfing the Guide is perhaps Blethisa? (I'm sure Vassili will let me know, either way...) Found during the Dragonfly Society of the Americas northeast regional meeting.

Moved to Subgenus Bracteon. Thanks guys! Since Peter stopped short of saying it was specifically B. inaequale, I'm going to leave this entry at the subgenus level for now.
