Looks like T. linnei (?)
There are 3 species in your region which can be very similar in appearance.
Tibicen linnei
Tibicen pruinosus
Tibicen canicularis
Additionally, these three are also suspected to hybidize. This particular insect looks to be a "young" linnei (with that silvery dusting of wax = teneral pruinosity which can last a coule days after the adult emerges)

This cicada is from the blend zone region!
This cicada is from the Chicago metro area - a region where the three species I listed are known to mingle.
We have been collecting from this area for the last three years and although morphology easliy narrows them down to the "Green Tibicen Group" as mentioned, for some of these, we need sound files to determine further id.
T. linnei seems to be the common denominator across the area.

Thanks
Bill,
As always, I appreciate you taking the time to explain. Based on my fauna, I would have guessed a Silver-bellied :)

South Alabama has some nice species!
I went to Auburn ;)
I also have family roots in nw. Alabama, where my parents have since retired.
If you ever come across dead or dying cicada specimens from your area, I'd be very interested. A good friend and his family in Daphne have provided a number of specimens, but thus far only 3 species - a handful of the several species known/thought to occur in your area.

Great Minds
Think alike, sometimes at the same time. Oe course, what I know about cicadas, I learned from you. I was in the process of moving of moving to "dog-day" cicadas for your expert ID. Working from cell, can only see one page at a time :)

No problem ;)
I've learned a lot of what I now know from many of the good folks here on bugguide, esp. those sharing their pic's, observations and interpretations ;)
I hope I haven't made the cicada guides too confusing. I may have gone overboard recently with all the new subcat's I added, but I'm trying to narrow them down as far beyond Generic as possible. There is still a lot to do.
I was also considering adding Guides under the Periodical cicadas addressing BROODS, then adding the pic's and id's assocaited with each Brood under those subcat's (Any thoughts??).
I haven't even gotten to the Okanagana, Platypedia and allied Genera.
