Very large click beetle - New Brunswick - Pityobius anguinus - female

Very large click beetle - New Brunswick - Pityobius anguinus - Female
Petit-Cap, Westmorland County, New Brunswick, Canada
July 16, 2012
Size: 38.5mm
The largest (38.5mm) click beetle I've ever seen. Has a deep groove in the pronotum. Found dead on beach of sand dune complex on Northumberland Strait shore of New Brunswick, Canada. Any guidance appreciated! (The loonie coin in the photo has a diameter of 26.5mm; specimen has been kept).

Pityobius
looks like a female Pityobius anguinus.

38.5mm
I just dug out the specimen and measured it (tip of elytra to tip of head). It is 38.5 mm. Is that unusually large for this species?

size
The published range for the species goes up to 30.0 mm. However, published records often pertain only to the male. And with elaterids, females are often larger than the males so the size is not surprising.
I'd be interested in obtaining a female if you find another. You can reach me directly on the email on my contact page. Thanks!

Thanks!
Thanks for that! I'll do my best to find you another female.

Thanks!
Thanks so much, Blaine.
