Lady beetle - Cryptolaemus montrouzieri

Lady beetle - Cryptolaemus montrouzieri
Rancho Santa Fe, San Diego County, California, USA
June 12, 1973
Size: Body length 5mm
Perhaps species Cryptolaemus montrouzieri - the Mealybug Destroyer? (1)

My old notes mention that this beetle was found on an Acacia tree heavily infested with mealybugs. The ground was always kind of sticky under that tree.

Moved
Moved from Lady Beetles.

agree with C. montrouzieri
The large size, entirely pale pronotum, pale apex, and mealybug prey all add up to C. montrouzieri.
