It looks like Autographa precationis to me, however this species seems to be found only on the east coast. What could it be?

It is very similar to one seen on July 4:

It's always fun getting a new species for the guide, and Plusiinae are some of my favorite moths even if I can't identify them!

Looks like you've got a bunch of photos here of Autographa labrosa, a species restricted to the central California coast. I'll make a new page to put them on. I don't have access to my Plusiinae fascicle at the moment, but when I do, I'll add information to the page about the species. It's not one I'm very familiar with, but it's very distinctive, and your location is spot-on as far as range goes. Very cool moth!
