bee or wasp? - Dianthidium simile

bee or wasp? - Dianthidium simile
Go Home Bay, Georgian Bay, Ontario, Canada
July 21, 2012
Size: ~10mm
There were quite a few of these in a patch of naturalized Sedum stoloniferum. Everything I have read says this species sticks to Aster but a very long drought has killed most of the flowers in the area...leaving only Sedum and Tanacetum on the island. I hope to get some better pics next time I am there since there are so few images of this bee in the Guide.
