Observed running and searching the leaf litter in a remnant Oak-Hickory woodlot.

This little wasp could easily have been mistaken for an ant because it moves so quickly and rarely pauses in one spot for very long. My capturing it with my point-and-click was made all the more challenging by its darting around.

Had I stood up and walked away satisfied with the first image in this series, I would have missed the opportunity to observe it subduing its cricket prey which is depicted by the other three accompanying images (including this one.)

Thankfully I stayed long enough to record a few images of the behavior!
