July 18, 2012
Size: 3/4"?
Found on our deck at mid-day..stayed for photos..quite lethargic. I posted on Spiders.us and it was suggested it was some kind of horse fly and perhaps you could help with the identification.

Moved
Moved from Horse and Deer Flies. I am reasonably sure about the ID, but I would greatly appreciate it if you would upload more shots, particularly showing the face and antennae. Or, if you collected this specimen and are willing to lend it to me, I would be extremely grateful.

Pics
Sorry, I don't have a good pic of the face and antennae...also, it eventually flew off and I had no idea it wasn't a common horse fly. I was just impressed with the unusual marking and size. Thanks for looking at it...I appreciate it. If it shows up again, I'll try and capture it.

Moved for expert attention
Moved from ID Request. Yeah, a horsefly of some kind.
