Medium Beetle - Apsena

Medium Beetle - Apsena
Riley Wilderness Park, Coto De Caza, Orange County, California, USA
July 31, 2006
Drizzling conditions. Many different types of ants on the trail. Saw individual beetles like this in two places, both among ants. Beetle would approach ant hole, then go off in the other direction in no hurry. Puzzling.
