I think this has the basal ha
I think this has the basal half of hind femur yellow and think it is Blera badia. I've sent it to Martin for a second opinion.

I agree, this fly also lacks the "fuzziness" of B. umbratilis - how did I miss this!

I think you found something... It is badia. B badia has a yellow face with a black middle line, while umbratilus had a black face with the lateral side pale dusted (this is hard to see in the pic). But also the mid tibia are half yellow in badia, while they are mainly black in umbratilus... and of course the fuzziness!

Dark face, legs and abdomen with some pale color, black scutellum, and wholly black face (with pollinose sides) key this out to Blera umbratilus in Curran 1956 - nice fly!
