Water Mites

Water Mites
Pine Lake, Gravenhurst, Muskoka, Ontario, Canada
July 18, 2012
Size: 0.6 mm
In benthic mud sample.

Moved
I'll post closer crops of the individual genera. Moved from Water Mites.

quartet of hygrobatoid water mites
The far left and far right mites are Piona (Pionidae), and the top one is probably Atractides (Hygrobatidae). The one at bottom-middle, with the dark gut lobes, is probably a Piona, too, but I wouldn't bet my life on it.

Nice work!
What a great and colorful assemblage. I know how hard it is to photography these tiny guys--well done!

Thanks!
Incidentally, this photo currently places as my 2000th on BugGuide.
