Larva feeding on the stem of Heracleum maximum - Depressaria radiella

Larva feeding on the stem of Heracleum maximum - Depressaria radiella
Sherwood Park, Strathcona, Alberta, Canada
Size: 20mm
An interesting sequence that shows the larva retreating when disturbed and then re-emerging. at least one publication states that the larva feeds exclusively on the floral structures. This is clearly not correct.

How was this identified?
Did you rear an adult? Given that you found it feeding in an atypical way, it seems that it would be good to have definitive proof of the species ID.
