Ok I swear...
Charley, I swear I commented on this picture like a week ago. Weird.

Those siphunculi indicate Macrosiphum and I bet if I got them under a scope I would see reticulation to confirm.
So according to blackmann and eastop there are two species in the genus that feed on Lathyrus but only M. creelii has been recorded on L. japonicus

Strange location?
Most sources seem to indicate Macrosiphum creeli is found in Northwestern USA - so isn't Maine rather a large expansion of range?
Also, the specimen in the photo is only a fourth instar, so ID may be a bit dodgy.

I know Macrosiphum euphorbiae immatures are dusted with white wax (like the one in the picture), but I don't know if the same applies for Macrosiphum creeli.
