Size: L = 15 mm
Beetle in house.Stands "on its head". Flightless, since it has no wings. Colorado apparently has the species E. contusum, E. elongatum and E. glabrum.

Tenebrionidae.
Very interesting find, Adalbert! I recognize it as a tenebrionid, but am not sure of the genus.

 
Embaphion
Looks like an Embaphion. This genus is in the Eleodini but is distinguished from Eleodes by the flanges on the pronotum.
