Size: body apx 5mm
one of several Syrphidae that i have given up distinguishing. I defer to the more knowledgeable in the group and thank you for your help.

Not a mimic..
An actual wasp this time. :)

It's a yellowjacket of some variety, I reckon. I'll let the experts tell you what kind.
