very odd color sounds like a fast pulsing pruinosus that can speed up and slow down

You have certainly encountered an area within your region where the cicadas are worthy of mention and attention. Your youtube posts are also very useful. Many of these cicadas exhibit strange calls in a spectrum ranging from pruinosus to linnei and everything in between.

This specimen is certainly one of the most interesting you have encountered.
