Checkerspot? - Chlosyne gorgone

Checkerspot? - Chlosyne gorgone
Irvington, Douglas County, Nebraska, USA
July 27, 2012
Size: About 25mm
I found several of these caterpillars feeding on separate sunflower leaves on a single plant. Can anyone help with ID?

Close relative
I wouldn't be surprized to see either species feeding on Echinacea, but C. gorgone is the one that has orange-striped caterpillars, and it is quite common in much of Nebraska. It is more often on Sunflower or Marsh Elder though.

Moved from Butterflies (excluding skippers).

Maybe?
Chlosyne gorgone, the host plant is right for that. The other one I was thinking of was Chlosyne fulvia but the host plant is wrong and they're a little farther west.

That was my thought as well.
I have never seen an adult Gorgone, but I know we have them around here.
