Monochamus - Monochamus clamator

Monochamus - Monochamus clamator
Ramsey Canyon, Hereford, Cochise County, Arizona, USA
July 26, 2012
I guess it has to be clamator - it just is much less grey than the Mt Lemmon ones

subspecies M. clamator rubigineus (Bates)
"This population may be distinguished by the reddish integument and brown-orange pubescent patches of the elytra."(1) This seems to match your specimen perfectly. Range of the subspecies is southern AZ to Honduras (1), disjunct from range of M. c. clamator which is found north of the Mogollon Rim - it would be really interesting if the Mt. Lemmon population were of the northern subspecies!

Yes, interesting
this was a great year for that sp everywhere in SE AZ.
